Naeem Akhtar, Altaf Bukhari lay foundation of Rs 29 cr alternate Zero Bridge-IG Road link | KNO

Minister for Public Works, Naeem Akhtar and Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today laid foundation for upgradation of road from Zero Bridge to IG road with a length of 10.5 Kms.

The project will be executed at an estimated cost of Rs 28.79 Crore and will cover areas between Zero Bridge to IG Road via flood spill channel and Kursoo Bund road (5.25 kms), area from Lal Mandi to Jawahar Nagar (1.75 kms) and areas from Lal Mandi to IG Road via Hazoori Bagh, Bakshi Stadium and Tulsi Bagh including Indoor Stadium link (3.50 kms).

 

On the occasion, Naeem Akhtar said that this project is the first project of New Alternate Connectivity System where in the parallel roads will be made for the better connectivity and traffic decongestion in the state.

He said the project will be completed in one year which is half the time of actual set timeframe for the completion of project. “If the situation remains favorable, the project will be completed by September 2018 instead of September 2019.”

Altaf Bukhari said the government under the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti is committed for the overall development and is putting efforts to develop Jammu and Kashmir on the modern lines.

He said the infrastructure development which includes health, electricity, connectivity and other basic needs of the people are the top priority of government.

With reference to the Amira Kadal constituency, Bukhari said, this project holds greater significance for the holistic development of the constituency. He said many development works have been completed and many are in offing for the welfare of people. Drainage works which are going on in the area will also relieve people from water logging and other sanitation problems, he said.

It was informed that the project will include beautification works, installation of more than 100 street lights, construction of drains, raising of sunken footpath, road furniture, wet mix macadamization and other works.
